Revamp for Industrial Estate

Posted 03 Apr. 2014

Ashbourne Industrial Estate has remained vibrant over the last few years and is reasonably well looked after by the businesses in the industrial estate. The recent Business Enhancement Scheme encouraged business owners in the main town and industrial estate alike to make more of an effort with regards to the aesthetic maintenance and upkeep of the shop units, adding to the attractiveness of Ashbourne.

However, in the last few months I have been contacted by several business and concerned customers about various areas in the industrial estate which are highly dangerous due to broken and un-mended footpaths, road surfaces and walls. After a thorough investigation, it was found that there are some severe cracks and potholes running through many of the paths and roads around the estate, making it difficult for motorists to drive through. One wall in particular – adjacent to a pedestrian-used path – has partially crumbled away, leaving debris littered about; the wall is unsupported and currently poses a real risk.

These hazards pose a significant risk to both motorists and pedestrians in the estate and need to be rectified as soon as possible. Should I get elected in May, I will strive to improve the current state of the infrastructure, making Ashbourne’s Industrial estate a much safer area for people to work in and pass through.
